On Sunday, Simon Cooke, APAM’s executive director, along with a team of Atlas Foundation (“Atlas”) supporters, completed the Tour of Cambridge, cycling over 80 miles for charity.
ATLAS works through a global network of Rugby Champions to support projects that use rugby to improve the lives of some of the poorest people on earth. The foundation funds overseas projects, including building schools and sports pitches, and providing education, food, medicine and play for children in deprived communities.
With high levels of change and uncertainty in our economy and society, the role of charities such as Atlas is crucial and more challenging than ever. At APAM we are on a mission to make a real impact through our charitable programmes and have a diverse range of employee-led initiatives being launched this year. Our projects help charitable organisations all over the world, both financially and in a practical way, and are at the forefront of our staff development programmes, ensuring our people have the ability to lead in a passionate and principled way.
Our next event is the annual One Great Day event on 14th June. St Christopher’s Place is going to be transformed into a hub of fundraising activity, including the ‘Cycle Race Challenge’, in support of Great Ormond Street Hospital. The team will be competing in the 2-mile virtual cycle race, the distance from St Christopher’s Place to Great Ormond Street Hospital, in the bid to be crowned the ‘2018 Champions’. Their race commences at 4 pm in St Christopher’s Place, please do not hesitate to come along and show your support by cheering on our cyclists! It’s going to be a great day for a great cause!
On 16th June, our Manchester team will be taking part in The Christie’s Charity’s Rough Runner. The charity supports the development of cancer prevention, treatment, research and education.
The below statistics highlight the devastating effect of cancer across the UK:
• In 2015 there were 359,960 new cases of cancer (nearly 990 every day)
• In 2016 there was 163,444 deaths from cancer
• Every 2 minutes someone in the UK is diagnosed with cancer
The team is fundraising to support vital research through investment in staff, equipment, facilities and other support services. It’s a fantastic event to take part in for another great cause – if you would like to support them and help raise funds, please follow our fundraising link: https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/apamltd
We have a number of other activities coming up so please do not hesitate to get in touch if you would like further information on our APAM Beyond Numbers programme or would like to get involved. We understand that working together with our team, friends and clients to promote engagement will have a greater impact!
