INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY

International Women’s Day is a celebration of the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. This day also marks a call to action for accelerating gender parity and for challenging gender bias which is encompassed in this year’s theme ‘#ChooseToChallenge’

We recognise that the commercial real estate industry has work to do in being more open and inclusive to women in the workplace. At APAM we are proud of our gender diversity across the business and want to use our platform to advocate for others. We appreciate that there are still improvements for us to make but we will make a conscious effort to strive forward and do better each year. Diversity and Inclusion is a key part of the culture at APAM. Our focus is to always be part of the solution and not the problem.

CHARITY

Over the past 2 years, APAM has supported Conservation Lower Zambezi (CLZ) as one of it’s charity partners and recently fundraised by racing virtually around the UK. CLZ supports conservation and community efforts in the Lower Zambezi. . Women in the Lower Zambezi are often the ones left in communities to look after the children and therefore they have a constant interaction and influence on the local environment. From this perspective CLZ feels that it is integral to support women’s empowerment within their local communities by helping women to feel engaged with conservation and financially empowering their needs. CLZ currently supports the ‘Mbelis’ (meaning ‘moving forward’ in the local language) which is a women’s group in the Chiawa GMA with the aim to develop their skills, create means of an income, take ownership of a business and find a market for their products.
