A recent report published by the UN’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) declared that human influence has warmed the atmosphere, ocean and land causing ‘widespread and rapid changes’ in climate change. The findings of the report show that drastic action needs to be taken to halt the potential irreversible damage to our planet. Here at APAM and Bankfoot APAM, we continuously put our environmental and sustainability values to the forefront of our decision making.
This week is World Water Week and one of our current developments, 11 Belgrave Road, aspires to be the industry leader of sustainability and conscientious design, with water management amongst many of its key focuses. Both the use of living roofs and permeable materials will serve as control measures for water drainage and management. The use of a living roof will mean precipitation is intercepted and retained, reducing the volume of runoff and attenuating peak flows. We see such strategies as critical to water management and look to employ such innovation across all future schemes.
