Simon Cooke
Shareholder / Executive Director
Simon is a founding shareholder of APAM and APAM Board member based in London. He is responsible for commercial property investment, loan advisory and business development. Simon formed APAM in 2010.
Experience:
Simon has 37 years’ experience in the UK commercial property market. In 1990 Simon was part of the Morgan Grenfell Asset Management (MGPAM) team that launched the first Jersey Property Unit Trusts. He became MD of MGPAM in 1994 and CEO in 1997; by 2003 funds under management had grown to c. £1 bn.
In 1996 MGPAM (later Deutsche Property Asset Management) under Simon’s guidance launched the first UK commercial property ‘opportunity fund’. In 2003 Simon jointly formed Cooke & Powell LLP
In 2006 Simon became MD of Close Brothers property investment division, also with over £1 bn in funds under management. Simon left Close Brothers in 2009 to launch APAM. Simon is a Fellow of RICS.

William is a founding shareholder and APAM Board member based in London. He is responsible for commercial property investment, asset management, loan advisory and business development. William formed APAM in 2010.
Experience:
William has over 24 years’ experience and has had roles with a number of commercial property investment and development companies, including Railtrack Plc and Marlborough Developments.
William is responsible for commercial property investment, loan advisory and business development at APAM
Prior to APAM William was a director at Close Brothers property investment division with over £1B in funds under management where he was also a member of the Property Investment Committee.

Executive Director
Melissa is an Executive Director at APAM and is responsible for oversight of the operational activities and financial management strategy of the firm.
Experience:
Prior to joining APAM, Melissa worked for over 7 years at PricewaterhouseCoopers UK LLP as a Finance Leader in a number of financial management and business decision support roles across the Legal and Tax business divisions. Previously, Melissa worked in Australia for 12 years across a variety of industries, providing financial accounting and analyst support services as a management accountant. During this time, Melissa gained broad experience within the IT and other professional services industries and also the manufacturing and health sectors. Melissa is a qualified accountant with over 20 years’ experience.

Sinéad is the Director of Portfolio Management in our London Office.
Experience:
Sinéad has management oversight of the Portfolio, Asset, Property and Facilities Management teams. Prior to joining APAM, Sinéad was an Associate at Hudson Realty Capital LLC, a real estate private equity fund. During this time, Sinéad managed a diverse portfolio of debt and equity investments, across all sectors throughout the US.

Robin Carr
Head of Investment Management
Robin joins APAM from Aerium Finance Ltd, he brings with him 25 years investment experience in commercial property across the UK and Europe including 20 years’ experience recruiting and leading key UK and Pan European Property teams.
Robin is responsible for investment management services at APAM. He is focused on growing the business in Central London, increasing the number of Capital Partners and expanding the sectors of activity, with particular emphasis on build to rent.
Robin was recruited to Aerium to establish a UK operation and deploy equity on behalf of a major Middle Eastern Pension Fund. Over the past ten years, in his role as Chief Investment Officer, he has transacted over £1.5bn across the UK, implemented a strategy of disposals across the UK and Germany and marketed a new Pan European value add vehicle. He completed three major Central London office developments. He also led the redevelopment of three major residential and mixed-use schemes and oversaw the leasing up and/or sale of the units. His previous roles include Head of European Property at New Star Asset Management Ltd and a number of positions at CBRE.

Head of Retail and Asset Management
Tony is Head of Retail and Asset Management at APAM. He has over 30 years’ UK and international experience in commercial property markets and particularly specialises in shopping centres and retail.
Prior to joining APAM Tony was Head of Retail Asset Management at Aviva Investors with responsibility for a portfolio of over £3bn comprising shopping centres, retail parks, supermarkets and high street shops. Prior to Aviva Investors, Tony was Head of Retail at Grosvenor with responsibility for its shopping centre portfolios. He was the fund manager for the Grosvenor Shopping Centre Fund and managed it successfully through a restructuring and debt refinancing during the financial crisis and subsequent disposal of all assets. His extensive experience includes business development, fund and investment management, development and asset management and, building and leading high-performance teams.

Lynne Van der Meer
Head of Property Management
Lynne is Head of Property Management at APAM and oversees the property and facilities management team.
Lynne van der Meer has over 18 years’ multi-disciplinary experience as a property surveyor in development, valuation and property management.
Lynne previously worked in a senior Property Management role at JLL and MAPP and brings a wealth of experience of contract delivery with institutional clients such as UBS, Royal London and St James Place. Her focus is to develop teams that deliver the client’s objectives through great client and occupier service. She was part of the senior team that onboarded over 300 properties for Royal London which led to the launching of the largest UK property fund, worth over £2.7 billion (RLUKREF). More recently she worked at MAPP where she was a client director for over 150 properties, owned by St James Place.
She has a track record of developing and improving processes, driving efficiencies and achieving structural resolutions to complex disputes.

Patrick Anderson

HEAD OF SPECIAL SITUATIONS
Patrick is head of special situations at APAM and has over 20 years’ experience in the property industry.
Experience:
Before joining APAM, Patrick was the Director of Värde’s European real estate team. Prior to this he was at Alvarez and Marsal where he advised on c. £35bn of real estate assets and credit exposures. His experience in debt restructuring and repositioning of assets will bolster APAM’s extensive capabilities in this area, where the business already has a strong track record.
Patrick was also based at London and Regional as COO of South Africa’s Victoria and Alfred Waterfront, through his experience in running this project, Patrick brings a wealth of experience in corporate operations, asset management, investment and debt strategies to APAM.
Patrick also has extensive experience in alternative sectors and operational real estate including hotels and healthcare businesses.

Lars Sindberg
Experience:
Lars has over 16 years’ international experience, having worked in Denmark, Germany and Turkey, and has been Managing Director of Danmerc since 2003. Danmerc is a niche fund manager specialising in Danish investors into the UK market.
In 2016, Lars joined APAM and coordinates Danmerc’s Danish client liaison and activities and implements their financial strategies in conjunction with APAM’s investment and management teams. He is responsible for contact with banks regarding financing, refinancing and swap agreements and with tax authorities, auditors and other external advisors on behalf of Danish clients.

Ian Lester

Ian Lester is Head of Property Management based in our London office.
Experience:
Prior to APAM, Ian joined Cording as a partner to set up and run Cording Property Management with particular responsibility for the control and administration of the department.
Ian has over 34 years property experience starting his career at Lee Baron. He then moved to William H Brown, Hertz and Hertz surveyors and Brian Cooper and Co, where Ian ran the commercial management department. When Brian Cooper and Co later merged with Hammond Phillips, Ian was appointed a director. He remained responsible for the management of the department which expanded substantially to a portfolio of c.£1 billion, and was directly involved in instructions such as the London Trocadero, the London Pavilion and The Criterion Building in Piccadilly as well as St Nicholas Shopping Centre, Sutton.

Head of Facilities Management
Experience:
Daniel previously managed national FM services for CBRE and Norland, contracts included M&E compliance for more than 300 Santander branches, nationwide Bupa care homes/head offices and Cheshire West Council public properties. At APAM, Daniel is responsible for co-ordinating our FM procedures, drafting and implementing policies, ensuring we are complying with all relevant health and safety and fire safety requirements throughout our managed portfolio and ensuring all properties are being maintained to a high standard. Danny has 10 years’ experience in the property industry.

Timo joined Catella in 1998 and has had several years of executive experience in the property and finance industry. He is the Head of Property Investment Management at Catella AB.
Prior to Catella, Timo gained experience from several executive positions, including Arsenal Asset Management and the Finnish Savings Bank Group.

APAM consults with Professor Andrew Baum, who is Professor of Practice at Oxford University’s Said Business School. Professor Baum is a specialist in real estate investment strategy who is chairman of Newcore Capital Management and advisor to several real estate organisations.
Professor Baum’s role is to challenge and help to develop our investment strategy on a macro economic and real estate market basis. Professor Baum is a member of the APAM Investment Committee and oversees a quarterly review of APAM’s research and investment strategies across all APAM mandates.
